TU 106 Communication and Creativity

01 May 2020

Reflection on TU106 course.

To make it clear, I will reflect on 3 different elements included in this course.

Regarding class lectures, the general comment is satisfying. I got to see more aspects of Ajarn’s knowledge than the previous TU101 course. The topic of this course is close to our daily life thus it is quite easy to relate it to social discourse. Ajarn Jasper provides understandable delivery that I felt focused to listen to him. At least, section-based learning helps to reduce much distraction from such a big class. I wish activities in class could be more engaging with role play or games since many students did not pay serious attention to the lectures. While Ajarns seem not to care about that much. Students like creativity and craziness. Ajarns could be still strict and open-minded to stress students out and let them be more responsible for being adults.

In terms of Guest Lectures, it is indeed cool and effective conducted online rather than in class. I like its time limit which is roughly 40 minutes for each which requires the speakers must go straight into the crucial points. I love getting to know how real organizations are doing in the market through the lens of interesting guests. The way Ajarn Ray facilitates the Q & A is impressive as he could elaborate on students’ questions and reframe them in detail. But according to this positivity, the time for this session should be more than the standard 30m so that more students can interact with the guests. If not, I suggest our professors could share more about their personal experience in the knowledge domain of this course. I hardly notice any points that all three professors ever touch on their journey with marketing or prototype development. I hope you can open about it more for the next courses so that students understand more of your motivation and life.

Lastly, group projects expose me to the dynamics of teamwork and learning application. It is a privilege to work with people from other faculties, unfortunately, we haven’t had enough time to learn about each other’s backgrounds. What is logical is we set action plans at the beginning of every project to have an idea of what to do together as a group. The biggest takeaway out of this teamwork experience for me is how to deal with people’s mind flexibly. It is all about being empathetic to listen to others, talk to them and get the work done in harmony. I find the course well-structured and managed through the Moodle system that we can submit our assignments conveniently. The projects give us the autonomy to be creative to work with each other without excessive demand on students’ performances. Also, the consultation sessions with Ajarn leave meaningful takeaways for me. It is the chance for our team to step back and forth to set a better direction for the projects.

With some last words, I love the reflection framework including both peer and individual reflection. The questions trigger me to think on a deeper level of observation and evaluation. Hopefully, through our reflection, Ajarns could make fairest gradings because you can’t fully see how we perform and what we did behind.

p/s: This is the paper for grading. I don't make up anything but telling the truth.

This course gives me the context to learn about LGBT issues in Thailand and the world. I am grateful for this opportunity. Thank you Thammasat University.
