Simplicity.

13.10.2019 Pattaya, Thailand.

2 days are about to end. For some reason, there is a coincidence in today and that of last year. We came to collect trash in the water with my friends.

An defending activity in a Millitary Beach Area

This camp has thrown back so many memories to me. Thank you my seniors for organizing this for us.

The game in the field reminds me of NUS's field when I just finished some exhausting days and watching the students playing basket ball. The green always warms my heart and captivates my attention.

The pride of being Vietnamese

Back then, it flew to the football match with Norwegian friends last September and October where only their language was spoken but our souls still communicated. Such an energetic period of time to recall. Diversity. Curiosity. Potential. And connection.

The trash collecting event moved me to the cleanup activities at Nguyen Hoang Pier in romantic Thu Bon river where like-minded people gathered in Hoi An every Saturday. How nice to make friends with environment lovers around this Earth. It is something inborn and out of practice as well. We gather to do a simple mission regardless external conditions. How lovely to have coffee and open-ended conversations with those caring and mindful humans...

Nguyen Hoang Pier, Thu Bon River, Hoi An

In the last moment of tonight, there brought me back to Thailand 2 years ago at Bangkok University. Time flies. My feeling has never changed. This is a special and holistic custom of Thailand in which people share beliefs and supportive thoughts for the younger to be ready in the path ahead. The moment I heard the sound of "lighting the candle" had me dive in the memory immediately. I felt I could smell the candles of those days. And then the song "Take me to your heart" was open in that small hall. Life is about constantly looking back to all footsteps that I took.

Final orientation day with AIESEC BU, 2017

Another joyful moment I have today was the breakfast this morning with Nath. As I saw the Facebook's notification of the last year, I found the breakfast more comfortable and chill. Fork, plate, spoon sounded "keng keng". The roasted bread spread over butter. Coffee tasted strong and smelled good, yet the taste failed to impress me due to an extra spoon of coffee powder and my over-hunger for this drink in the first place. My sleep was heaven-like, too. A breakfast of nostalgia, and comfort, with an adorable friend.

Early Halloween

I am grateful to have Nath as my friend, a smart and funny human. Somehow I always engage in our simple talks and can make some stupid but meaningful gossip. She had a special past in school back then, similar to mine. She had a sharp mind towards economics and logics. My paper just got some interesting critics from Nath, I did not intentionally bother her, then I told her to give feedback to me in the end. It was a good decision even though I have to refine another paper. The fact is that it was an inadequate and  messy piece of essay in between knowledge and imagination. And I have to accept the mess, as how I accept my imperfect self and capacity. Of all, my friend is absolutely an ingenious dude who has enlightened my learning journey for the past 2 months. The actual time feels much longer than 2 months, ironically. It is the miss for our old days, and the presence seems to be indeed longer. Most importantly, I am honestly part of the presence.

Not to mentioned, I miss the first exciting Halloween Party ever in my life too...

Ajarn Dipendra observing SGS students

Finally, I got some time talk to Ajarn Dipendra. His motivation to work all over the places is his belief in his own ability and his determination for learning. He has left Nepal for 5 years with the original intention to pursue his PhD. Now he is still deeply in the learning spirit and money is not his priority. It will come later at the point he accomplishes his real value-driven targets. He used to be a brilliant school captain for his potential to organize many events. It has been definitely built up now! He explained the concept of politics to me in a very detailed way. It pertains to the power of people who can make decision in certain community. For example, family politics is portrayed in how the decision making is controlled by parents. Everything he said was precise, practical and honest. Ajarn loves simplifying complicated things. Perhaps that is why he likes taking selfie. He is running too and tomorrow I will run around Thammasat Pattaya Campus.

Somehow lingering to leave the place as I hardly could wake up early to explore the area, who knows it might me a promise for sometime passing by again. Let it be. Nature is always there. Memories are forever love, like the lost stars will forever shine somewhere in the mysterious sky...

Love and Gratitude, Thuy Linh
