Hospitality is always in my heart

Her captivating storytelling skill projected me back to her youth, her aspiration for life, her self-belief and a beautiful heart for people.

"Why you didn't have any work that is related to Hospitality?"

- "Hospitality is always in my heart."

Whatever job she does has her hospitality to give to people. She got her gut to persuade her mom to follow the school that she wanted to be. While her mom held a firm opinion for science studies, she decided to live her own interest by studying English. English used to be her huge passion for earlier days but she had to stop it to focus on her Math and science in highschool. Her studying performance turned upside down that's why she never wanted to repeat that path. Then it took her a while to gain back the momentum for English because many of the knowledge was washed away after non-practice years. She managed to improve her English level eventually. Yet she couldn't find a job after graduation for 3 months. Her mom encouraged her to go to Australia to polish her English and learn about Hospitality. She was very excited for the first time being abroad. She did not cry at the airport surrounded by her family members but she cried when seeing the gorgeous landscape of Australia. She didn't expect the sea was that incredible. She thought everything on TV was just make-up. But the reality was even more beautiful. Her plan to stay in this country expanded over time. She found her love in here, and an intention to achieve a Hospitality certificate. After 1.5 years, she went back to Thailand and felt disappointed because of the difference in lifestyles. She was unsure if her decision was true. Regardless of the strange feelings towards her motherland that she was supposed to feel attached, she made efforts to get back to normal life over 2 years later. Then she started working as a Secretary for Sport Org that her boss supported her in everything. If the workload was too heavy, her boss would take over for her. Till suddenly the policy of the company changed that people have to work 6 days per week. She quit. She loves travelling to the extent that it is a part of her life. Being at the airport always gives her the excitement to move on. And the new working schedule was too hectic to realize this interest. Then she found JUMP! which was looking for HR and administration, and especially based around her place. She never conducted an interview on Zoom before, let alone 3 rounds of interview. She told me of times of ups and downs in the application process. And when she got accepted, she had a manager whose working mentality is totally different from her ex-boss. She had to do everything by herself this time. She felt shocked that whenever she asked her boss to review her emails or work performance, her boss would disapprove and told her to send them right away. She had to work as an individual that even without her boss, she could still survive well in the organization. She was advised that if people don’t understand her emails, they would ask her back. She would write back to them until they understand. Don't ever ask for the third person to slow down the process. She could do everything. Within only one month, her skills boosted incredibly because she found a sense of confidence and challenges, she needs to learn things on her own. Her manager left shortly after that and told her "I leave an important thing at JUMP! that is you". She emphasized to me that "whatever organizations I might work for in the future, just believe in myself and do it, don't delay and feel inconfident because I am capable of everything." She reminds me of my own manager at JUMP!, Perrin, who gave me similar encouraging words that ignite my fire in my down moments.

Yes, I would continue to believe in my capabilities and increase my self-trust to learn and try new things. Keep in mind that humanity and hospitality light up even the darkest trajectory. We will never be alone. Keep asking and we will find the answer.
