One long sleep to get back the full energy!

Some people are having breakfast around, my colleagues are getting up soon in this hostel. Gathering to sleep in floorbed is an interesting way of accommodation, I think, they are all not feeling homesick.

Homesick? How is it? I am more familiar with this term now, time ‘s being gone incredibly. For a month, I don’t have time for my favorite gym habit, well not say a habit as I learnt from Ms River. I am aware that the opportunity cost is that I sacricefy the time for work instead of doing my personal things, yet the cost allows me to be responsible for the hectic flow of work. The period of time got me back to the cram time in high school but this time I am doing the work with a more important mission.

What about the pressure?

I met a young boy, interning in School of Gumption, who loves competitions a lot. At his same age, I might have been like him, what he described about the kind of programs that can make him so excited to join are all about competition. At this moment, such “competitiveness” is no longer of my concern or anything important because there is no reason to force myself to win others. From work to studying and social projects, I am driven by my inner navigation, over a journey of discovery past 3 years. But I am empathetic with that boy who is walking in the path I used to walk where the whole ecosystem support a young kid to chase after competitions.

School of Gumption’s spirit has got my sense of curiosity back!

Hai Yen and Liu Yan must also know some reasons why the boy is strongly into that “game” but they never say as if we as young people are not allowed to be so competitiveness. I believe sooner or later, as he gets enough exposure, he will figure things out. It’s cool to hear from him that pressure can be either positive or negative at least. I don’t remember if I knew about this at that time with full of exam paper and similar friends. Uncle Jack Sim’s pressure is when he looks at his watch and see he only has 5000 days to live, the time is getting shorter and he has to try more to do things to save the world! The way he presents his story never becomes boring with his unique passion and authentic feelings. He is happy with being a small dot in the big picture for others to be the main theme since this harmony can what he strives for happen.

A space of safety and love

I can’t wait to see my dear bosses! I don’t mind being scolded or missing the opportunity to explore an interesting place in Sin, nothing is more wonderful to me than being with School of Gumption. It has been more than 4 months since I last met Liu Yan and Steven. It’s crazy! When I had not reached the place, I receive these touching words:

- An invitation to stay in her house

- A message of saying sorry not able to come

- A long email excitingly confirmed our reunion

What do I need more? Nothing but time! Kindness and care are enough to get me up early and write this blog, to have me run under the rain towards Social Collider, to have me hugs them tightly, to find all means to separate my company team, to bring my great energy and be alive again with my curiosity.
