Appreciation. Learning.

Good evening! 23:00. 15.01.2020

I was not about to reflect but just feel tomorrow I wont write about today if I don’t do it now. It is a nice day. I called some friends that I love in my class to celebrate my birthday. Thank you very much. Just want to have a small party with you guys to say farewell to my age, and begin a new age. You are probably the most lovely friends I have known so far who are kind, patient, and smart. I didn’t tell you this party was as an anniversary for my life because I just want to take the day as a normal day. Your presence with me is special itself already. I appreciate your participation so much.

It was a long lecturer about Thai politics articulating several generations of King. I felt sorry for Ananda Mahidol who died at the same age like me now. At first we only talked about the necessity of joining the graduation ceremony as we were required to take off all of our Accessories or irrelevant stuff in our body. Those who have tattoos are prohibited, those who have weird hair are out, who are transgender must wear the cloths according to their biological sex. These rules make little sense. (I will be in jail if these words are widely spreaded?!).

We talked about Ajarns, our program, our life, our food, our affairs. Keng has many things to complain from his wisdom and expectation, for instance, his dissatisfaction with the grading system. He has been looking for the top achiever who took his position. His behavior is the outcome of Post Trauma Stress Disorder. I am so sorry. I told him, I am living with my life. Competition is good if it motivates us to try harder to reach our own goals, not to overcome others.

Our morning lessons were about how to identify arguments by breaking it down into a set of claims. Arguments must have conclusion and premises which support to create a sound conclusion. This is called “Applied Critical Thinking”. We must give logical and valid reasons to draw conclusions. A pure claim can’t be an argument. A set of claim is not necessarily an argument. Argument is not a fight as in usual understanding.

The later course is called People, Group and Network whose professor specializes at Anthropology. The topic focuses at human revolution together with other aspects such as psychology, economics and sociology. This is all about humanity and human behaviors. How do individuals make decisions? Who makes decisions in group/ network? Can individuals survive without belonging to any group/ network? These questions link to the essence of political science which is the power of decision making. I am thankful to take more practical and applicable courses along the way.

Here we go so much to read tomorrow. I am watching “Black Dog”, a Korean TV series digging up a teacher’s life in a stressful system in Korea. I am getting myself prepared to become a teacher (hopefully). I don’t know how can Ajarn handle both teaching and managing teachers/ human resources in an organization – the school. I hope to empathize with your job and could give you a hand someday. Or at least, follow your aspiration. I am happy to be your student.

Thank you my friends and respectful ajarns!
